Chevron's Amazon Chernoble

on Saturday, 22 May 2010.

Newfoundland has put a hold on oil giant Chevron's plans for a well off of their coast. It is planned to be the deepest ever drilled in those waters, deeper than BP's runaway well in the Gulf of Mexico. For an idea of Chevron's track record in cleaning their messes find a copy of the documentary film, Crude, about the disaster they left in Ecuador. There 30,000 rain forest dwellers are suing Chevron for destroying their homeland. The film has won 19 international awards. Check it out. The record of Chevron in countries where government controls are lax is staggering. Chevron is running commercials on TV Make them look like Green Peace. They are the farthest thing from it.

Chevron Goes for Broke

on Friday, 21 May 2010.

Never mind that the BP disaster is still on going and getting worse every day. Chevron is preparing to drill a well said to be several thousand feet deeper than the BP hole. An article in the Montreal Gazette by Andrew Mayeda, Canwest News Service, May 20, said that Chevron's plan to drill the deepest well ever off of Newfoundland has been put on hold until assurances that they can handle a spill of the magnitude of the ongoing spill in the Gulf of Mexico have been answered. Five years ago Chevron told regulators that they could handle a spill of only 1/12th the size of a major spill. This after the federal government relaxed the environmental assessment rules for offshore projects in 2005, eliminating the requirement for a comprehensive study at the exploratory drilling stage. Would you give one of these huge oil companies a free pass? Not in a million years.

Want to make big bucks?

Here's how. Sign up to blog, write, lecture and make a nuisance of yourself telling people that global warming and climate change are a hoax perpetrated by Al Gore and President Obama. The Oil companies will pay you big bucks. Exxon Mobil is spending enormous amounts of money to hire people to do just that. It's sad but true.
